Candle Care Guide
Candle Care
Our candle are handcrafted with love and we want you to get the best from them and enjoy them safely.
- Remove dust cover before lighting
- Trim the wick to 5mm (half a centimetre) before lighting each time you burn the candle. This prevents the flame becoming too large and will keep the flame burning cleanly.
- Place your candle on a level heatproof surface when lit and not near any flammable materials such as curtains.
- Keep your candle out of reach of children and pets.
- Burn your candle for between 2-4 hours at a time this will make sure that the candle uses all the wax as it burns rather than creating a tunnel down the middle.
- If you wish to use the candle for longer than 4 hours you will need to extinguish the candle and trim the wick when cool enough to do so before relighting this will prevent the flame becoming too large and producing soot.
- Keep the candle free of wick trimmings, matches or other debris
- Do not move the candle while burning or while the wax is molten
- Candle containers may become hot while burning
- Never leave the candle unattended. Extinguish your candle before leaving the room or before going to sleep
- Never use water to extinguish a candle this can cause the hot wax to splutter and could damage the container
- Do not burn the candle if the container is chipped or broken
- Do not burn the candle all the way to the bottom the candle should be retired when there is about 5mm of wax left in the container. See our guide of how to clean the wax out so that you can re-use the container.
- Allow the candle to cool before replacing the lid if your candle has one.
Reusing The Container:
- Remove the remaining wax by either heating in a water bath and pouring the melted wax into another container ready for disposal in the general household waste or place the candle in a bag in your freezer for a few hours - the wax can then be easily removed.
- DO NOT heat in a microwave as the wick is held in place with a metal sustainer.
- The wick and sustainer can then be easily removed.
- Wash the container in warm washing up water. The design is not dish washer proof.
- Dry the container then use the container as part of your home decor see some suggestions below:
